Stacked Landscapes/Skyscapes arose after my walking the Camino Santiago, the Northern Spanish Pilgrimage Walk, with a friend in 2000. Day after day the mind is impressed with sky, skyline and low landscapes. Day after day one repeats the daily rituals, rise, walk, repast and retire, a meditation of it's own. Thus the idea of repeating, stacking landscapes to embody the idea of the walk or pilgrimage. This idea translates to New Zealand back country walking/hiking, where a sense of place is achieved through colour and mark making to capture the visual experience of a week's hike in South Westland, culminating in the Dart and Rees Valley Walks Series .
